Smart Grocery Shopping with AKHB West

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, the Aga Khan Health Board for the Western USA hosted an interactive “Smart Grocery Shopping” event at Trader Joe’s in Santa Ana, CA, as part of the Top Ten Tips and Lifestyle Modification Program.

Led by Jennifer Tharani, a registered dietitian and health coach, the session equipped participants with practical strategies for making healthier choices while grocery shopping. In addition to nutrition guidance, the event highlighted the importance of incorporating sustainable lifestyle changes, such as adding yoga or regular physical activity into daily routines.

Participants were encouraged to set simple, actionable goals—like trying one new fruit or vegetable each week, exploring creative recipes, and making their kitchens a space for health and discovery.

The event left attendees inspired to take small, consistent steps toward a healthier, more mindful lifestyle.
