Cardiology Clinics Performed & Echocardiography Courses Taught by US IHPA Members in East Africa

Dr. Munaf Shamji & Aziz Ukani recently travelled to East Africa to share their expertise with the Aga Khan Clinics and the East African Community.
Dr Shamji provided cardiology services for 5 days of clinics in Mwanza and 4 days in Arusha serving 20-40 patients a day.
Aziz Ukani provided echocardiography services, conducting 50 echocardiograms in each city, totaling 100 within 5 days, compared to the usual 6 months it would take for a local patient to receive one. Aziz also trained echo-technologists in both locations.
During their short, but impactful visit, Dr. Shamji and Aziz gave multiple talks, including at Jamatkhanas and Ithnashri Mosques, as well as a lecture for community doctors.
